Ever since I first met B.J. Bueno about 25 years ago, he’s been the person who could show me when I was thinking about the wrong things.
B.J. has used his mastery of brands and human behavior to help David Copperfield and David Blaine—but he’s also a lifelong magician who loves magic as much as we do. He understands why we love doing this, and what it really takes to build our own unique businesses that let us share the magic we love with people who are thrilled to pay us for it.
When I was in my twenties and trying to build my career, I became obsessed with the idea that I needed a great website.
B.J. showed me Bill Malone’s website.
At the time, Bill was one of the most successful working magicians in the country. And his website was rudimentary.
B.J.’s point was simple:
Bill didn’t need a powerful website because his business model didn’t require one.
I was worrying about becoming good at something I thought a successful professional magician was supposed to have.
B.J. was teaching me to understand what actually created the business.
Since I was in my twenties, B.J. has helped me—and many of my friends in magic—make those simple but necessary shifts in understanding.
And now he’s saying something that has our entire CC team excited:
For the last 20 years, we’ve all been told that building a business means mastering websites, social media, email lists, funnels, advertising, social posting, and an ever-growing collection of complicated technology.
But in the last few years, something has changed.
People are hungry for connection and memorable human experiences. And there are opportunities all around us to become known in our own communities as someone who can provide them.
B.J. has remarkable ways of using AI and other simple tools to make the important work easier. We’ll be using them.
But technology isn’t the engine.
The engine is understanding what you really have to offer, who values it, where those people are, and how to make it easy for them to hire you.
Written down, some of these things sound almost obvious.
So does a good magic move.
But anyone who has struggled with a move before a great teacher made one small correction knows the difference between simple and easy to discover by yourself.
On your own, these decisions can take years of trial and error.
With the right teacher, everything can become much clearer.
And when B.J. started showing us how he would take a magician through that process today, our whole team had the same reaction:
We want to do this.
I’ve been a professional magician for most of my adult life, and I want B.J. to take me back through the fundamentals as they actually exist now.
Our CC team wants to do it with me.
So beginning in February, we’re going back to boot camp with B.J.
And we want you there with us.
Six weeks doesn’t have to finish the journey.
Six weeks can change the way you understand the journey—and put you on a course that changes everything that happens from that day forward.
That’s what we’re building here.
And it works whether you’re just beginning to think about getting paid for your magic, you’ve been a part-time professional for twenty years and want the phone to ring more often, or—like me—you’ve been doing this professionally for most of your life and want to revisit the fundamentals with B.J. as they actually exist today.
Different starting points. Different ambitions.
Same process.
There are lots of ways to make money that aren’t much fun.
And there are lots of things that are fun but aren’t particularly good ways to make money.
B.J. is going to help us find the intersection.
What magic do you actually love doing? What are you already good at? What opportunities exist where you live? What kind of people do you enjoy working for? What kind of income would make this meaningful? And what kind of professional life would actually make you happy?
After doing this for most of my adult life, I’ve learned that the highest-paying job isn’t always the best job.
I want to walk into an engagement knowing the client is delighted to have me, the expectations are right, I’m being paid enough to respect the work, and I can relax and do the magic I love for people who genuinely want me there.
That’s the sweet spot.
And here’s the important part:
You can build a great living there.
Learn how to find the right opportunities, become known for delivering something people genuinely value, and develop a process that brings more of those opportunities into your life.
Do it once and you’ve had a good gig.
Learn how to do it repeatedly and you have a business.
Keep building relationships, earning referrals, becoming better known, and letting the whole thing compound, and you can build a professional life where you’re doing a lot of magic, making a great living, and actually enjoying the work.
And right now, there are more opportunities to start building that life close to home than most magicians realize.
One of the things B.J. and I have been discussing is that, for a huge amount of the professional work available to magicians, three or four tricks might be all you need to start getting gigs now.
Because nobody is hiring you for the number of tricks you know.
They’re hiring you for what happens to their guests when you’re there.
B.J. will help us look at what we already have and understand how to create much more value with much less magical weight on our shoulders.
You may not need another year of preparation.
You may already have enough magic to begin.
This is where we’ll go through B.J.’s Brand Discovery process—understanding who responds most strongly to what you do, what they’re really responding to, and what you can authentically become known for.
Those discoveries begin shaping everything downstream: your repertoire, your offer, your collateral, and the way you communicate what you do.
Instead of trying to manufacture a “brand,” you begin understanding why the right people would want you.
Once we know what we’re offering and why it matters, we can turn it into something people can actually buy.
B.J. will work with us on how to frame the offer, how to price it, what to say, and how to talk to someone who might hire us.
But this isn’t about learning high-pressure sales.
You’re helping someone envision the experience they want to create for their guests—and making the whole process of getting there easy and seamless.
You know what you want to do.
You know what you can deliver.
You understand why someone values it.
Now you can have a natural conversation about creating it for them.
And once those fundamentals are in place, a minimal website, B.J.’s AI tools, and a few simple pieces of modern technology can supercharge the whole thing without becoming the thing.
The restaurant owner you know.
The country club down the road.
The company where your neighbor works.
The wedding planner someone introduces you to.
The community organization that needs something special.
Once you understand what you’re looking for, the world around you starts looking different.
B.J. will help us recognize those opportunities, start the conversations, and begin putting what we’ve built into the real world.
You’re not waiting to someday become a professional magician. You’re starting to behave like one.
This flagship program is being taught live this one time.
That means you won’t simply be watching the finished course someday.
We’ll be there doing it with you.
B.J. will introduce each part of the process and help us understand the decisions we’re making. Then we’ll leave with a focused action item or two—something concrete we can work through during the week and bring back with us.
The following week, we’ll put that work on the table together. B.J. will help us workshop what we’ve developed, answer the questions that came up, and refine the decisions that will shape what we’re actually going to build, nurture, and bring into our lives.
Then we’ll move forward and do it again.
A little learning. A little work. A lot of B.J.’s guidance. And six weeks of making the decisions that change the course of your life.
I’ll be doing it.
Our CC team will be doing it.
You’ll be doing it.
And we’ll have our own private online group where we can share our work, collateral, discoveries, questions, and progress—and continue sharing what we learn as we use this material throughout our careers.
You’re joining us for the one live teaching of a full flagship experience you’ll have lifetime access to.
We’re announcing the dates at Summit specifically so you can protect the time now if you want to do this with us.
Saturdays:
February 6, 13, 20 & 27
March 6 & 13
Every live session will be recorded, and your enrollment includes lifetime access.
Between now and February, you’ll hear much more about everything B.J. is building into this flagship experience.
For today, here’s the start of what’s included:
And that’s only what we’re sharing today.
For 25 years, B.J. has helped me recognize the difference between what I thought mattered and what actually did.
Our whole team is going back to boot camp with him.
Come with us.
With love,
Aaron
